Simple Home Budget

If you don't organize your budget properly, you may end up asking yourself how you spent so much money and on what. A good solution is to write down your income and expenses, but a better one is to use a specialized application, on your computer. Most computer users tend to avoid finance managers, because they are too complicated. Simple Home Budget earns its name, because it is indeed simple and very easy to use. Just type in your income and expenses and the software will provide you with various statistics.

You can use a fully functional trial version, for 30 days, without encountering any adds or reminders to buy the software. The installation file is roughly 2 and a half MB and the setup wizard will guide you through a straightforward procedure. If you are using Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7, you will be able to run Simple Home Budget without any problems.

Simple Home Budget makes it quite easy to manage your budget. You can add income, expense and refund entries for each day of the month. A calendar is located on the left side of the interface and you can use it to switch between different dates. Transactions are defined in the same area and you can add them by clicking a button. They are listed in the larger area, on the right side of the window, along with various details.

When creating a transaction, you may set it as expense, income or refund, specify the amount of money, type a personal note and select a category. Obviously, if you categorize your transactions, it would be easier for you to remember that a certain amount of money was spent on gas, bills and so on. The software allows you to create, group and color code your own income and expense categories.

You will be pleased to know that Simple Home Budget comes with a large number of predefined categories. If you intend to organize usual expenses, like electricity bills, mortgages, groceries and others, you don't have to create any categories. All categories are listed on a separate tab. Besides their names, types and groups, you can also find certain details, for each category, such as the total amount of spent money or how many payments are made.

A useful feature is the possibility of creating recurring transactions. This means that you don't have to add regular expenses or incomes, like rent or monthly wages, each month. If you choose to create a recurring transaction, you may specify the start and end dates and schedule the transaction to occur on a daily, weekly or monthly basis, every few weeks, each year and so on. When you add one or more transactions, the software will display your total income and expenses, your net income and other statistics, in the lower left corner of the interface. Furthermore, it illustrates these statistics as graphs and pie charts, for different categories or periods of time.
